I really enjoyed working with the (step)brothers, their enthusiasm and openness to experimentation led this project to be some of my favorite work yet.
Sam and Armando had written all three songs and rehearsed and performed all of them regularly. We mainly used CR3, with the two live rooms around recording drums, bass and electric guitars. We recorded piano, Hammond organ and Rhodes using PR1 and 2. Vocals were recorded mostly in the booth of D9, with backing vocals and overdubs recorded at both mine and Armando’s house.
Sam and Armando had hands on influence all throughout the process. They had a strong vision for their music, and their help with the experimentation involved in the project really lent itself to the playful and at times overwhelming sound we crafted.
The (step)brothers have now started work in their home studio, testing out ever stranger and more exciting ways to record just about anything. The results so far have been something to look forward to.
